Bio

History: Spending most of my childhood building LEGO™ masterpieces and doodling endlessly, I was always going to be headed for a career in the creative industries. Upon completing secondary schooling and simultaneously completing a Tafe certificate in Printing and Graphic Art, I entered a BA(Design and Marketing) at the University of the Sunshine Coast. After putting in some time into the university student magazine, I began freelancing. From there I worked at a number of organisations and exhibited work in various galleries and have been a part of community art projects. I have also been to numberous AGDA, BAD and Youngblood events and a number of Design conferences, and was lucky enough to win a design grant from myspace.com and vraw, as well as receive a finalist placing in the AGDA awards (student category) in 2008. Lately I have been enjoying getting back to basics by utilising pen and paper more heavily in the creative process, and have now started to develop a strange post-it note ‘to-do list’ habit.

Whats the deal with the woodgrain and the chameleon/lizard: The name ‘Keith’ means wood, and the Sweeney family crest includes a chameleon in it, along with three boars. For my personal branding, I decided to associate myself with woodgrain finishes and the imagery of a chameleon skeleton. This was done because the close up colourful chameleon imagery is old hat, and I was after something more edgy and raw. The chameleon was chosen as a graphic element that represented me, because chameleons are known for their ability to change colour depending on their environment/mood/situation (adaptability), along with their unique 360 degree vision (awareness) and finally the chameleon’s tongue which can extend the length of its body with the tip forming a suction cup, essentially sticking to prey (strategy and execution). These are traits I feel encompass my creative philosophy.

Most Valuable Asset: My imagination and the ability to bounce & evolve ideas, along with my marketing and business knowledge and my thirst for learning.

Goals: To be producing quality creative, alongside fun quirky people at an exciting place to work. And then, maybe world domination.
