clientcopia

Sometimes clients can seem like they are from another planet entirely. This happens to everyone eventually, but thankfully there is a web portal called clientcopia.com which is a place where professional service workers can swap client horror stories, and take comfort in knowing that they are not alone, and that they aren’t the first and definitely won’t be the last to deal with client ‘difficulties’. A great stress reliever.

Here is a taste:

Client: The only logo I could find was a jpeg. I didn’t know how to send it so I put it
in a Word document. Also, I shrunk the logo down really small so you should be
able to download it quicker.

Client: Just because we signed off on the printer’s proof doesn’t mean we were
happy with it!

Client: The ad is approved…with some minor changes
Me: Which are…?
Client: Revise the headline and the body copy a bit and change the main visual..

vraw

VRAW put on a competition to give $3000 to artists to further their dream careers ($1000 each to a musician, designer, or fashionista). I beat out 62 other hopefuls in the design category, so stay tuned, as the wheels are in motion to put the win to good use. Thanks again to VRAW and myspace.com.

My first emboss!

November 13, 2008

Turns out it was a deboss. How anti-climatic. Had to go with a silver foil, as the compendium wasn’t thick enough for a highly visible blind emboss. I don’t think it turned out too badly though.

Thread Exhibition Publicity

November 13, 2008

I somehow got my face in print as the thread exhibition received a mention on the back page of the 5000 copy publication of USC Community. We are hoping for a good turnout on opening night, and crossing our fingers the weather holds out

Folio Storyboard

A shot of the storyboarding I did for my portfolio. I liked the fact that the pages could easily be rearranged to view possible sequencing options.

Promoting the Thread exhibition through the USC website. But I still don’t know how that handsome devil got in the photo…

Amazing Hologram Technology

November 6, 2008

Anybody who saw some of the CNN US election coverage had to be amazed at the new hologram technology they unveiled. Although it technically hasn’t been perfected (as the host does not see the hologram), it was nonetheless impressive. And certainly has ramifications for the Television industry. A short video about how it came about can be seen here. I personally get a kick out of watching science-fiction come to life, I’m just waiting for when the advertising industry starts to look like the movie ’Minority Report’. Australia’s own Telstra is already looking at the possibilities and possible applications of hologram technology.

homeless world cup BAD avant card competition entry

homeless world cup BAD avant card competition entry

This was an entry I whipped up in about 30mins for the BAD club avantcard postcard competition for the 2008 homeless worldcup. The guidelines for producing HWC material were extremely strict, as sponsors had certain positioning, and only certain colours and fonts, and placement were to be used. This was an interesting project to work on in such a short space of time.
